Haworthia mucronata var. rycroftiana M.B.Bayer

H. mucronata var. rycroftiana is a smaller light green mucronata species, leaves are smooth and thick with short acuminate leaf tip. It is offsetting and forming small clusters in the locality. It has more ovate and turgid leaves than other mucronata species. 

Distribution map

Locality is at Gouritz River Valley, where it grows in steep gorges and rocks above the river. Most of the plants are smooth, but few clones with spines can be found as well. Recently was described by E. Esterhuizen H. standeri from Matjiesvalley, NW of Calitzdorp. See article, which I will publish soon about it.

H. mucronata var. rycroftiana is quite known in cultivation. Propagation can be done by offsetts or seeds.
