Haworthia heroldia I.Breuer
heroldia: after locality, where it occurs

Plants from type locality (known only from TL) are growing covered with needles from exotic pines. H. heroldia has bright green leaves with pellucid markings and their size is double if you compare them with H. outeniquensis and also the leaves are much more robust.

I have revisited this locality recently and more or less all big pine trees has been burned. But plants, although now growing without trees above them and needles from pines around are doing well - see photos below.

Distribution map

Bayer has described H. outeniquensis (Haworthia Revisited 1999). He includes there two populations. First from Moerasrivier and second from Herold. Ingo Breuer has separated plants from Herold as H. heroldia (see World of Haworthias, vol. 2 - page 511.).  Previously it was distributed as H. helmiae.

H. heroldia
is an easy plant in cultivation and it is offsetting regularly.
